A Renovation, or addition, or major remodeling project has (5) pre-liminary steps. These steps can take anywhere from 3 months to 6 months or even longer at times depending upon multiple variables and requirements.

a consultation with LOK DESIGNS LLC WILL ENABLE A POTENTIAL CLIENT TO BE PROVIDED WITH DETAILED INFORMATION BASED UPON OUR DECADES OF EXPERIENCE.
THE FIVE STEPS FOR A HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ARE BELOW:
Step #1 - homeowner IS FULLY COMMITTED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH A HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. ADDITIONALLY, HOMEOWNER HAS THE NECESSARY FUNDS TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THE PROJECT. OTHERWISE, A HOMEOWNER MUST SECURE NECESSARY FINANCING BEFORE HE/SHE CAN DETERMINE THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT WHICH WILL BE WITHIN THEIR BUDGET.
Step #2 - HOMEOWNER HIRES A DESIGNER AND/OR ARCHITECT TO PREPARE DESIGNS/DRAWINGS WHICH CAN BE USED BY A CONTRACTOR TO PREPARE AN ESTIMATE FOR THE PROJECT. DURING THIS STEP CLIENTS CAN ALSO MEET WITH CONTRACTORS. MOST CONTRACTORS CAN RECOMMEND ARCHITECTS OR DESIGNERS WHOM THEY HAVE WORKED SUCCESSFULLY WITH IN THE PAST.
Step #3 - HOMEOWNER INTERVIEWS CONTRACTORS AND ULTIMATELY SELECTS, A CONTRACTOR FOR THE PROJECT. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO MEET WITH AT LEAST 2 or 3 Contractors.
Step #4 - THe project drawings are finalized and the contract with the contractor selected is reviewed, approved and executed. If Design Drawings/Layouts or Concise Scope of Work are approved by the homeowner prior to “if required” The Architectural Drawings are completed, and the homeowner has selected the Contractor to execute the work by reviewing, and approving the Contract; then after can the approved Architect proceed in executing the final construction drawings. Once the construction drawings are completed, the Contractor can review and verify that the drawings align accordingly with the outlined contract for the presumed agreed to scope of work and the Contractor can proceed to gathering the permit applications.
Step #5 - contractor can prepare permit applications and prepare for submittals to the township.
These consultations typically LAST about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending upon the scope of the planned project.
