Custom Int. Stairs/Railings
no matter the age of the home new or old; lets face it sometimes the stairs are not fabricated in the manner they should be prior to they are installed. in order for the stairs to work appropiately within an existing structure it is essential that a homeowner has there Contractor schedule a stair professional to template the stairs prior to a vendor proceeds with the fabrication process of constructing the stairs.
please, Do not get me wrong though; working in existing home structures/openings/measurements and conditions can always create limitations and restrictions which are construed to the limitations that the stairs can be fabricated within. These are items that the stair vendor templater will explain at the time of measurements.
During this project i have posted; I had a Client who realized that the balusters where not installed and spaced properly on there railing and that the last step on the bottom of the stairs just never felt right. It always felt like a sudden leep from the last step to the ground level of the 1st floor.
My client provided me a collection of inspiration photos of both stairs and balusters which I was able to research and find custom balusters that would be relatively close in match to the inspiration photos. the stairs we installed are white oak stair treads. white oak stair treads cost more; this is because a homeowner is essentially paying for the upgraded whiter oak. stain will penetrate white oak differently than red oak providing it that clearer appeArance once finished. Risers and stringers where painted using Benjamin Moore Paint Products - Semi-Gloss White diamond.
The balusters where special ordered and took over 12 weeks of fabrication. Each Baluster took nearly one hour to prime and properly coat with paints by method of paint brush prior to they were installed and coated with a final coat. Enjoy the project photo!
