Custom Attic Finishing Project

Most of the time, when homeowners have that extra attic space and they see the ceiling rafters drop significantly downards into the room they simply cannot imagine how it would look finished as a useable room. Some homeowners when they see the ceiling drop at the outer portions of the house structure they are concerned that will be wasted unusable space. as A contractor the first design aspect that comes to mind is “lets think about creating closets” or lets work on a concept for “Custom built in shelving or cabinetry”. This is merely becuase I myself am always seeking ways to utilize every bit of space in an existing home structure.

Of course there are codes and regulations that must be worked within and this is why when finishing an attic the township will come inspect, provide insight, and approve that the finish product is done properly. Working with townships and inspectors is great and it is always benefit to both the homeowners and the contractors working on any project. As a Contractor we always can utilize space where the ceiling drops by adding built-ins, custom shelving, or a pleasant place to throw some cushions and have a seating area.

During this particular project the homeowners were insightful and did their homework. They provided inspirational photos which they had found online searching and we were able to nearly replicate working within specific restriction measurements the custom built-in concepts they desired. It came out beautiful and the finish work was painted using semi-gloss white diamond. I love the wall color the clients selected for this project; it provided an open concept with the taller ceiling.
